Few of them have a long track record or a good reputation based on years of experience in this industry. Most of them are prop firms that have only recently emerged and it is often difficult to choose the right one or to know in advance if it is a reliable company. It gets more complicated when looking for a funded trading accounts to trade stocks. Most prop trading firms are specialized in Forex (list of forex prop firms), some others offer trading with commodities, indices or cryptocurrencies (list of crypto prop firms), but there are still few that, among their catalogue of available financial instruments, allow trading with stocks.

Why are these the best proprietary trading firms for stock trading?
Stocks are one of the most popular financial instruments for trading today. Traders from all over the world trade stocks of companies from all types of industries and countries on a daily basis, such as shares of US companies like Tesla, Amazon, AMD, Apple, NVIDIA, Meta, Intel, Alphabet, Bank of America, Paypal, Visa, Nike,…. Most online brokers also allow trading in shares of companies from countries such as Germany, France, UK, Australia,…
In the prop trading sector there are many prop firms specialised in the Forex currency market but fewer offer funded accounts for trade stocks. Still the number is quite high and new firms are constantly emerging and often the choice of the best proprietary trading firm is quite complicated.
In the table above you can find what I consider to be the best prop trading firms for stocks based on my personal experience and the real user reviews I have collected on these firms.
I consider that the 4 most important factors to choose a good prop firm for stocks are:
- 1- The catalogue of stocks available for trading: Depending on your trading strategy, there may be a series of company stocks that suit you better than others due to their volatility, characteristics, etc. and it is important that the prop trading firm you choose offers you these types of stocks and that you are not limited to working with others that suit you less well.
- 2- The reliability of the firm: A wide range of stocks is of little use if the prop firm you are going to work with is not sufficiently reliable, does not offer a professional service or directly tries to deceive you with a series of rules and objectives to access a funded live account that are impossible to meet and with the sole objective of keeping your initial fee to access the evaluation process. The ones you can find in the table above are experienced proprietary trading firms that have funded thousands of traders around the world and have a good reputation.
- 3- Fair profit sharing: In this sector, the company that offers funded accounts is the one that is risking its capital and the trader is not risking his but at the same time he is the one who must do all the work, have a profitable and consistent trading strategy and comply with all the risk/profit rules that the prop firm imposes to let you trade with its capital. It is therefore important that the percentage of profit is fair so that both parties benefit from the mutual collaboration. Funded accounts to trade stocks, as you can see in the table above, usually offer split percentages between 75% and 90%, with the company keeping the remaining percentage. These percentages are in the average if we compare them with other types of firms, for example, futures prop firms usually offer even higher percentages, for example, in the case of Topstep (see here the review of Topstep) , 100% of the first $5,000 for the trader and then 90%. In the case of instant funding prop firms that offer funded accounts without evaluation, the percentages are usually lower, reaching 50% for the trader and 50% for the company.
- 4- A good support service: Although a large part of the processes in this type of prop firms for stock trading is automated and you will hardly ever have to contact the company on a day-to-day basis, it is very important in my opinion that the prop trading firm puts resources into offering a good service to its traders. In addition to being directly related to the reliability of the company, this is positive, especially at the beginning, as doubts can always arise with some of the trading rules, risk criteria, objectives to be met in the evaluation process before accessing a funded live account, with the payment methods and first withdrawals of profits,… An agile and professional attention either by phone, email or live chat is always necessary.
In summary, these are the factors that I consider most important and that any prop firm we want to work with must comply with, but from there, the choice of the most suitable one is a personal matter. In the comparison table above you can see the most relevant features of each prop firm and find the most suitable one for you.
SurgeTrader (see SurgeTrader review here) currently offers the largest number of stocks to trade. It has a quick one-step evaluation process to access a funded account with up to $1 million without complex scaling programmes and its trading rules are simple. The Trading Pit also has a full catalog of stocks to trade (varies depending on the broker you choose), a 1-step challenge and a scaling plan where you can grow your account up to $5M. Fidelcrest (see here the review of Fidelcrest) and FTMO (see here the FTMO review) have similar features in terms of profit sharing percentage, 2-step evaluation process, profit and risk targets,… although their offer of shares available for trading is somewhat smaller than SurgeTrader.
