Hey All,
I tested this morning with the 6 day early test which came back negative.
My last period was the 25th august and I usually come on between 3-4 weeks. So 4 weeks would make my expected period to be this coming Tuesday (so from wednesday I would be classed as a day late).
Could I still be pregnant with a negative result on an early pregnancy test?
I know I should just be patient and wait until the missed period day but I'm curious if anyone else has ended up pregnant but used the clear blue early pregnancy test days before their expected period and the test was negative?
Thank you.

Yes, you could be. The more time goes on, the more I hate these mega early tests. They just intensify the headgame that is TTC and they don't change any outcomes. There was a thread recently where OP was squinting at tests from a few days past suspected ovulation, couldn't be sure if they were positive or not, they eventually looked very negative. Could have been a chemical pregnancy but tests were so faint you just couldn't be sure. No gains, in my opinion.
I know we all want to know asap but there are some things that just can't be rushed.

Hey
Aww thank you so so much for the fast response. I feel better after reading that. I so want to be pregnant. So fingers crossed. It's true though honestly it's made me incredibly anxious reading it as negative and being unsure now.
Thank you so much.

You definitely could be pregnant despite a negative test.
The '6 days early' tag line is because it's an easier way for most people to measure and its how all other tests state their effectiveness.
However, the date you ovulated + the length of your luteal phase is what determines when your period is due. So you may expect your period is due on Tuesday, but unless you know the length of your luteal phase and exactly which day you ovulated then it's impossible to know for sure when it's due. Most people who go on to get a positive test will see a BFP from 12DPO, so if you do know when you ovulated then 12DPO is a safe bet for testing.
A lot of late BFPs come from people who ovulated much later than they expected. This could easily be you if you're not tracking ovulation and you're never out until AF arrives.
Good luck. Fingers crossed for you.

If you have been sexually active, then yes you could be pregnant.
Tunnocks34 · 20/09/2020 15:22
Yep. I have never got a positive result before my period - even with the super sensitive first response tests. In fact with my middle son I didn’t get a positive until the day after my period was due!
jb2941 · 20/09/2020 15:29
Yeah you could be. I remember when I was trying to conceive with Dd - my period were never regular so I can't go by that.
I did a test say on the Wednesday or Thursday and it was negative but had a strong positive early the next week! Pregnancy hormones multiply rapidly in early pregnancy I believe.
So try again in a few days 😃

Try a first response they are much more sensitive and accurate, I never got a positive with clear blue and neither did some friends. Good luck

Thank you so so much everyone! I just noticed something when I went to the toilet, not sure if it's my period or implantation 😔

Hopefully it's implantation. If not, keep trying. I'd honestly suggest leaving the super early tests well enough alone, although anyone who's ever tried to conceive will understand the temptation. On that path lies madness.
Lay90 · 21/09/2020 10:24
You're so right! Thank you!!!!
Well I'm bleeding but again so so so unsure weather its my period or implantation. I guess I need to hold on.

Given the dates and your cycle time, period seems likely but who knows. Try another test tomorrow?
LeSquigh · 21/09/2020 10:31
In my experience Clearblue are not very accurate early on. The First Response ones as someone said above are much more accurate early (although you could pick up a chemical pregnancy more often with these). Superdrug used to do an exact replica which were much cheaper but something in the back of my mind is telling me that they changed the sensitivity a few years ago and were not quite so good.
Good luck either way. Xx

I’ve just had a two positive tests after two negatives just after my period so yes you could still be pregnant

It’s so so much better to wait at least a week until after you are due to get an accurate result.
In the olden days, prehome testing, go wouldn’t confirm until missed three periods
AtLeastThreeDrinks · 21/09/2020 11:47
I had a failed Clearblue and then a negative Clearblue test a few days after my missed period. Waited another week or so and then took a First Response which was positive. I agree about the early tests, think they're just a money-spinner to be honest.
Lay90 · 22/09/2020 07:22
Thank you so much everyone. I definitely won't be buying and relying on the 6 day early tests again.
So I started bleeding on Sunday around 17:30 but it's a strange period. I see blood in the toilet and when I wipe but it's not like I usually expect on the pad. So much lighter on the pad.
Either implantation bleed or I'm making myself believe it's different to my usual period, so I remain hopeful 🤷🏼♀️
I'll do a test in the morning xx

Guys what do you think, my bleeding was not a lot today. In the morning on the tissue and in the toilet but in the pad again not too much. Now when I wipe there's not a lot of blood.
Period or implantation?

I really wouldn't like to guess. I believe you can expect a positive result about four days after implantation, so perhaps test in a couple of days. (Happy to be corrected.) Then you would be a couple of days after your latest expected period date too.
Dishwashersaurous · 22/09/2020 19:44
Wait at least a week until your period is due and then test
Lay90 · 22/09/2020 20:56
Thank you both. My period is due today.

It's more likely to be spotting that will lead into your normal period I'd have thought. But it could be implantation if you're not 100% sure when you ovulated.
Fingers crossed for you though.
Lay90 · 23/09/2020 08:47
Negative test this morning. I stopped bleeding too xx

If you don’t have a proper period then take another test in a week’s time
Lay90 · 24/09/2020 13:34
I will hold on for a week. Started bleeding a little in tissue. Now today it's brown like the end of a period. So maybe it was my period. However on Tuesday I had very very heavy feeling in my legs and today I'm very nauseous and bit of my bellyache. Gosh baby a stomach bug. Now my mind is seriously playing games with me!
