Banana split
You will need:
Machines: 22 pin machine.
Yarn: this project is great for using up your scrap yarn as it uses small amounts of many colors.
I am using: White, Yellow, Mint, Pink, Brown, Red, Green
Other supplies: needle, scissors, hot glue,
Note:
I am using hot glue to attach the pieces. You can sew if you prefer.
Bowl:
On your 22 pin machine
Cast on with white
Work 45 rounds
Cast off
Flatten and cinch both ends. Secure and hide loose ends inside.
Pinch to fold each cinched end and sew a couple stitches - make this piece into a canoe shape.
Banana - make 2:
On your 22 pin machine
Cast on with light yellow
Work 30 rounds
Cast off
Flatten and cinch both ends. Secure and hide loose ends inside.
Fold in half lengthways and sew along the sides joining both edges to secure the fold.
Glue the two banana pieces in the bowl side by side.
Ice cream - make 3:
On your 22 pin machine
Cast on with ice cream color (I am using pink, brown, and mint)
Work 15 rounds
Cast off
Double up and cinch the ends to make a flat circle with the cinched ends in the center.
Hot glue the 3 flat pieces, in a row, on top of the bananas.
On your 22 pin machine
Cast on with ice cream color (I am using pink, brown, and mint)
Work 25 rounds
Cast off
Double up and cinch. Secure and hide loose ends inside.
Add stuffing.
Using a length of yarn, create a drawstring around the open end. Pull the drawstring gently to almost close it - leave approx. 1 inch opening. Tie to secure the drawstring and hide loose ends inside.
Sew sprinkles on.
Hot glue the open end of this piece to the corresponding colored flat circle.
Cream - make 3:
On your 22 pin machine
Cast on with white
Work 9 rounds
Cast off
Double up and cinch the ends to make a circle (it will not be completely flat) with the cinched ends in the center.
Glue this piece to the top of the ice cream.
Cherry - make 3:
On your 22 pin machine
Cast on with red
Work 8 rounds
Cast off
Flatten this piece and cinch both ends, secure and hide loose ends inside.
Fold this piece in half and add a bit of stuffing inside the fold. Sew the folded edges together to make a ball.
Add a short length (approx. 1 inch) of green yarn to the top of the ball to make a stalk.
Hot glue the cherry on top of the cream..
Little Triceratops
You will need:
Machines: 22 pin machine.
Yarn: Pink, Mint green, white,
Other supplies: needle for casting off and sewing on parts, stuffing, pink felt, hot glue, 15mm safety eyes,
Body/head:
On your 22 pin machine
Cast on with mint green
Work 80 rounds
Cast off
Double up and cinch. Secure and hide loose ends inside.
Add safety eyes approx. 1.5 inches from the top of the head and approx. 1 inch apart. Add white eye accents if you wish.
Add stuffing.
Using a length of yarn, create a drawstring around the open end. Pull the drawstring gently to close it. Tie and sew end closed to secure, hide all loose ends inside the body.
Create the neck: Tie a length of yarn around to create a neck. Hide all loose ends inside.
Nose:
On your 22 pin machine
Cast on with mint green
Work 8 rounds
Cast off
Flatten and cinch both ends.
Sew this piece across the face directly under the eyes. Add a tiny bit of stuffing before you finish sewing it on.
Arm - make 2:
On your 22 pin machine
Cast on with mint green
Work 11 rounds
Change to pink
Work 4 rounds
Cast off
Flatten this piece and cinch both ends, secure and hide loose ends inside.
Roll this piece. Sew along the arm to secure the roll.
Sew to the front of the body approx. 1 inch apart.
Leg - make 2:
On your 22 pin machine
Cast on with mint green
Work 12 rounds
Cast off
Flatten this piece and cinch both ends, secure and hide loose ends inside.
Roll this piece, Sew along the leg to secure the roll.
Sew the legs to the bottom front sides of the body with the feet pointing forwards.
Frill piece - make 7:
On your 22 pin machine
Cast on with mint green
Work 6 rounds
Cast off
(this piece is small and fiddly so take your time)
Flatten this piece and cinch both ends, secure the cinched ends and hide loose ends inside.
Sew the frill pieces to the head.
Secure and hide loose ends inside the head.
Tail:
On your 22 pin machine
Cast on with mint green
Work 8 rounds
Change to pink
Work 4 rounds
Cast off
Flatten this piece and cinch the pink end, secure the cinched end and hide loose ends inside.
Cinch the other end gently but do not cinch all the way.
Roll this piece into a cone shape. The pink end should be the pointy end of the cone.
Sew to secure the roll and add a small amount of stuffing. Sew the open end of the cone to the back side of the body.
Horn - make 3:
Using pink felt. Cut a small semi-circle shape.
Roll this into a cone shape and use hot glue to secure. Glue the horns to the head - one above each eye and one onto the nose.
Little Bull/Highland cow
You will need:
Machines: 22 pin machine.
Yarn: Brown, Cream, Orange,White, Black.
Other supplies: Needle for casting off and sewing on parts, stuffing, 18mm safety eyes (or size of your choice),
Body/head:
On your 22 pin machine
Cast on with brown
Work 80 rounds
Cast off
Double up and cinch. Secure and hide loose ends inside.
Add safety eyes approx. 2 inches from the top of the head (the cinched end) and approx. 1 inch apart. Add some white accents to the outer edge of the eyes if you wish.
Add stuffing.
Using a length of brown yarn, create a drawstring around the open end. Pull the drawstring gently to close it. Tie and sew end closed to secure, hide all loose ends inside the body.
Tie a length of brown yarn around the area that you want the neck - to create the neck. Hide all loose ends inside.
Nose:
On your 22 pin machine
Cast on with cream
Work 8 rounds
Cast off
Flatten and cinch both ends, secure loose ends inside.
Sew the nose between the eyes so that the cinched ends are on each side.
Secure and hide all loose ends inside.
With black yarn add two nostril lines.
Horn - make 2:
On your 22 pin machine
Cast on with cream
Work 10 rounds
Cast off
Flatten this piece and cinch both ends, secure and hide loose ends inside.
Roll this piece, Sew along the length of the horn to secure the roll.
Sew the horns to the top of the head approx. 1 inch apart and make sure that they are pointing slightly forwards.
Ear - make 2:
On your 22 pin machine
Cast on with brown
Work 6 rounds
Cast off
Flatten this piece and cinch both ends, secure and hide loose ends inside the ear..
Sew ears to the side of the head, just below the horns.
Bangs/hair:
Tie some short lengths of orange yarn to the top of the head and fray the yarn to make the bangs fluffy. Trim to the desired length. I trimmed mine so they were just over the top of the eyes.
Leg - make 2:
On your 22 pin machine
Cast on with brown
Work 10 rounds
Change color to cream
Work 4 rounds
Cast off
Flatten this piece and cinch both ends, secure and hide loose ends inside.
Roll this piece, Sew along the leg to secure the roll.
Sew the legs to the bottom front sides of the body with the feet (the cream end) pointing forwards.
Arm - make 2:
On your 22 pin machine
Cast on with brown
Work 12 rounds
Change color to cream
Work 4 rounds
Cast off
Make the arms the same way you did the legs. Sew to the front sides of the body.
Tail:
On your 22 pin machine
Cast on with brown
Work 10 rounds
Cast off
Flatten this piece and cinch both ends, secure and hide loose ends inside.
Roll this piece, Sew along the length of the tail to secure the roll.
Sew the tail to the backside of the body. Add some orange hair (like you did the bangs) to the end of the tail to finish.
Little Koala
You will need:
Machines: 22 pin machine. If making the eucalyptus branch you will also need a 4 pin I-cord machine.
Yarn: Grey, black, brown, green, white.
Other supplies: Needle for casting off and sewing on parts, stuffing, 23mm safety eyes (or size of your choice), fur, hot glue (the last two items are optional).
Body/head:
On your 22 pin machine
Cast on with grey
Work 80 rounds
Cast off
Double up and cinch. Secure and hide loose ends inside.
Add safety eyes approx. 1.5 inches from the top of the head (the cinched end) and approx. 1.5 inches apart. Add some white accents to the outer edge of the eyes if you wish.
Add stuffing.
Using a length of grey yarn, create a drawstring around the open end. Pull the drawstring gently to close it. Tie and sew end closed to secure, hide all loose ends inside the body.
Tie a length of grey yarn around the area that you want the neck - to create the neck. Hide all loose ends inside.
Nose:
On your 22 pin machine
Cast on with black
Work 8 rounds
Cast off
Flatten and cinch both ends, secure loose ends inside.
Sew the nose between the eyes. the cinched ends should be at the top and bottom of the nose.
Secure and hide all loose ends inside.
Leg - make 2:
On your 22 pin machine
Cast on with grey
Work 15 rounds
Cast off
Flatten this piece and cinch both ends, secure and hide loose ends inside.
Roll this piece, Sew along the leg to secure the roll.
Sew the legs to the bottom front sides of the body with the feet pointing forwards.
Arm - make 2:
On your 22 pin machine
Cast on with grey
Work 15 rounds
Cast off
Make the arms the same way you did the legs. Sew to the front sides of the body. Sew the hands together.
Ear - make 2:
On your 22 pin machine
Cast on with grey
Work 10 rounds
Cast off
Cinch both ends and flatten the piece to make a circle with the cinched ends in the center.
Secure loose ends and hide them inside the ear.
Sew ears to the side of the head.
You can sew some fluffy grey yarn around the edge of the ear if you want to make them fluffy, or like I did, hot glue a strip of grey fur around the edge of the ear.
Eucalyptus branch:
On your 4 pin I-cord machine
Cast on with brown
Make a cord approx. 6 inches long
Cast off.
Secure and hide loose ends inside.
Leaf - make 2:
On your 22 pin machine
Cast on with green
Work 5 rounds
Cast off
Flatten and cinch both ends, secure loose ends inside.
Sew the leaves to the end of the branch to finish.
