When to surf Westport, WA? ›

The best time of year for surfing Westport-The Cove with consistent clean waves (rideable swell with light / offshore winds) is during Winter and most often the month of March.

Most of the surf here comes from groundswells and the ideal swell direction is from the west southwest. The beach break offers mainly left hand waves. Best around low tide.

The beach at Westhaven State Park faces due west and picks up more swell than the other two spots. The ideal wind here is from the east, or offshore in surfers terms. The jetty is located on the North end of Westhaven State Park and to the south there is miles of sandy beach for everyone to Surf.
