As a student of D'Evelyn, I Can say D'Evelyn has been a great place for me. I went into 7th grade not knowing anyone but over the years have made many new friends. In additon, I love the passionate teachers we have that truly care about the subjects they teach and hold each student to high standards. This makes D'Evelyn a vigorous and challenging place at times but I believe that I am more prepared for college because of this school. Through the course of attending school here, I have learned so much about myself, how I learn best and how to stay organized to keep me being successful.

D’Evelyn is a fantastic school for academics, but it somewhat lacks in community. The school is very focused on schoolwork and even though that is generally a positive, there are times when it can be negative. For example, there is very little emphasis on sports and clubs at the school. As a student it can feel like all the school cares about is your grades.

I've read many reviews that complain about lack of diversity and lack of focusing on hot topic social issues and buzzwords. That is not the point of a college prep school. No matter how you feel about those subjects, D'Evelyn did an excellent job preparing you for what you face in the real world... and the real world does not care about those items. The real world cares about problem solving and critical thinking.
If I still lived in Colorado, I would make sure my son went to D'Evelyn because it was invaluable in my career development.

D'Evelyn was a great school for me. I enjoy learning and D'Evelyn offered me a challenging course load that kept me engaged in learning. The staff at D'Evelyn is very responsive to building relationships with students. For me, the structure was perfect. The days were predictable and the 7th period study hall was a great way to get a head start on homework or get help from a teacher. The Friday clubs were a great way to meet other people who shared my interest along with many activities including sports, band, theater, choir, orchestra, etc... The homework load was a bit excessive at times but fortunately for me, I am very diligent and made it work.

The education at D’evelyn is exactly what education should be. The liberal arts curriculum is fantastic and it is why so many students leave over prepared for college. I would say that some teachers have a long way to go in learning how to teach and teach out of different learning types and styles. However, it is very clear that almost every teacher at D’evelyn is incredibly passionate about their subject matter and almost every teacher cares deeply about their students educational experience.

D’Evelyn’s a great school for those who are willing to challenge themselves. There isn’t a lot of drug use or violence. However, due to its focus on academics, things like extracurriculars, sports, and “fun” classes are substandard. Due to its difficulty, your GPA suffers. Only colleges in the area compensate for the difficulty on the school in admissions. On the other hand, D’Evelyn really prepares you for college. The students are also a little snobby. Overall, great school for academics, but not for extracurriculars or college admissions.

TOP NOTCH! THERE IS SUCH A SENSE OF PRIDE BEING AN ALUM!
D'Evelyn took an average academic kid and made him a powerhouse in college, once he figured out what he wanted to do.

D’Evelyn Junior Senior High School is an excellent school. The student body is generally kind, and the teachers and staff are excellent at their jobs. The academics of the school are wonderful, living up to the name of D’Evelyn being one of the best high schools in the state in terms of academic success. D’Evelyn Junior Senior High School is a wonderful school to attend.

The teachers at D'Evelyn are knowledgeable, friendly, and inspire a love for learning. The work is rigorous and pushes me to be the best student I can. I feel completely prepared for college, both because I'm more than prepared for any workload thrown at me, and because I've developed a keen love for my education through D'Evelyn.

What I really liked about my high school was their ability to prepare me for college. There workload and rigorous classes prepared me for college, especially for essay writing. They also had numerous extracurricular activities that benefitted me as a person and furthered my experience of the world.

I love how the curriculum at D'Evelyn pushes all students to work hard and improve in their studies. Our classes are hard, and there are a lot of expectations put on us, but this encourages us to grow and to push forward in our education. Furthermore, our teachers care about us, not only as students, but as the future of the world and support us outside of our studies.

In terms of rigor and preparation for college - no one beats D'Evelyn teachers and staff. My coursework is probably more demanding than most freshman-year classes. My teachers go above and beyond to help me learn the material and appreciate my efforts. If I am ever challenged, they are available (after school and over Zoom) if I need to ask a question. I am now ready for college. I am forever glad I attended this high school

D'Evelyn is, academically, a difficult school, there is a lot of homework and high expectations. A pro to this is that it really prepares you for a college workload, however a con of this is that you must have very good time management skills if you are doing extracurriculars.

I will admit it is a rigorous school with high academic expectations. I also feel the grading is probably borderline unfair in some classes. But it is an exceedingly safe campus and incredible college prep. Trust me, most colleges will seem easy and you will have learned valuable study skills.

Diversity is sorely lacking here. Seriously... 1,000 + students and only 1% or less are Black? You gotta be kidding me. Only 8 students or so on the free/reduced lunch program (1% or less)? D'Evelyn is overwhelmingly White and wealthy and doesn't seem to support minority nor socio-economic representation. D'Evelyn doesn't seem to want to see, hear, or embrace more Black, Hispanic, Muslim, LGBTQI and other divergent voices in our community, as is apparent from their admissions policy (lacks pro-active recruitment effort to diversify). This doesn't mean you lower your standards to bring in the tokens. There are smart & motivated minorities in your district; FIND THEM! How can you be proud of perfect GPAs and test scores when you haven't heard the voices and experiences of REAL people from other cultures and backgrounds, to inform your critical thinking skills? What has D'Evelyn done policy-wise to change this huge disparity in their admissions process? NOTHING.

D'Evelyn is a great school in terms of education and curriculum but the downside is the rigorous and strict learning which does not leave room for failure. The kids are well behaved and there are not too many rule-breakers with the closed campus but there is little room for a life outside of school. There is too much homework, but it does prepare for college.
